Gregory's Gift of Hope currently requires adoptive homes to have suitable fencing before an adoption is granted. Some dogs may be allowed to go to homes with Invisible Fencing; acceptance of this alternative confinement system is solely up to the discretion of GGOH.
Gregory’s fencing policy may seem extreme, please understand that this policy is
in place with our rescue’s best interests at heart. The goal of our fencing
policy is to minimize the risk of serious injury to the animal you so kindly
take into your home. Things happen, often without intent, and an animal can end
up running at large; a fence simply lessens the odds of this happening. Our
policies are not in place to deny an animal a good home, but rather to ensure
our rescues are placed in the best possible environment.
INDOOR LIVING POLICYDue to the drastic climate changes that can happen rapidly in our northern
states, Gregory's will not approve adoptions where the animal will spend the
majority of its days in an outside environment. While it is true that some
animal breeds are better suited to colder climates than others, we feel that
every animal deserves the warmth and comfort of indoor living, especially during
our harsh winters. As with all of the policies that we enforce here at GGOH, we
do so with our rescue's best interests at heart. We thank you for your
understanding and willingness to comply with these policies.
